Bike service beware, you may think you are paying $95 for a service but the true charge will be much more than that. Ended up paying $191 without letting me know it would cost substantially more (admittedly including part costs) with labour for small things like break pads costing $15...something that is basic and can be done at home in 5-10 minutes. Did not advice the extra costs and was left feeling extremely upset.
Learning - you get what you pay for, better off going to a more expensive shop and paying the same amount there.
Ordered a new rear wheel build from Abbotsford Cycles several months back.
Ordered an All City Hub laced to a Velocity Deep V rim. The build took several days longer than they qouted. When I picked it up, they had laced an All City hub to a much cheaper Alex Rims rim.
No discount was offered, or explanation given.
Bought some panniers and a rack online. Phoned for advice and staff were very helpful in identifying what would work best for me.
I found the prices to be competitive with overseas suppliers. Items were despatched the same day as available in stock. Staff were great with communicatio at letting me know status of my order.
I've been servicing my commuting bikes there once a year and I am very every time. Their price for a service is not the cheapest but they actually do check your bike and fix up everything they find. The price for components is also very reasonable. Once, I had my very long bottom bracket ordered and fitted for a price cheaper than I can buy on-line in Australian shops. Last month, I serviced my bike and when the gear doesn't change properly recently, they happily readjusted that for me for free.
I think they are a bunch of honest, hard working folks that will not rip you off, but you don't have to take my words for it (I hope you don't, or they will have too many customers and I will need to wait longer next time I book my bike for a service).
When it comes to hard to find parts like Brooks saddles and unusual items these guys cater to both old school and new school.
Carrying a large range of parts and accessories.
If you are looking for something special or needing your bike serviced youv'e come to the right place
