After buying a voucher on the Our Deal website for the 5 course truffle degustation menu with champagne on arrival for two ($129) I emailed the restaurant Absynthe requesting a Tuesday night booking. I let them know the voucher number & within 10 mins I had a reply with the booking confirmation. The night we went, our two waiters were wonderful, welcoming & explaining each dish to us. We started with the Chilled Cauliflower Soup with truffle foam, then a Mushroom & Truffle Infused giant Raviolo. Each dish looked amazing. Pan fried Tasmanian Scallops with Truffle Risotto followed, then Roasted SA Angus Beef. An extra dish of Panfried Salmon with Parmesan Custard & Truffle was available for $12.50 each and worth every cent! Finally came a dessert of Dark Chocolate Fondant with a Yoghurt & Truffle Bubble. Well in keeping with the apparent theme of mixed reviews, our experience at Absynthe was also mixed.

The ambiance and setting in the restaurant is ...read more
First time in my life that has been treated very badly by "a suppose to be a very good restaurant". Tried to call many times on many days for over a week to make a booking and nobody answer. Leaving a message and nobody return the call. Tried email and finally got a reply in the afternoon on the day I want to make a booking. From a simple email that want to confirm the booking, turn out to be further emails conversation going forward and backward many times so I decided to give it another call. Lucky enough I got through this time. What a shame, very rude staff on the phone. Very disappointed and we ended up not going there.
