Where to go for the special date night? As big fans of Japanese cuisine, we tried Acacia Japanese Modern Dining for the first time.
We ordered sashimi moriawase, grilled wagyu steak and vegetable tempura to share, along with miso soup and rice. Each dish was creative and elegant in its presentation. The sashimi was very fresh. The grilled wagyu steak was cooked medium rare (as requested) and was amazing! The vegetable tempura was lightly battered with a tasty dipping sauce - one of the best tempura I have tasted. The pricing of the menu is a bit on the high end, but is justified by the quality of the food. ...read more
I visited for lunch with my partner and grandparents last Friday. The proprietor is very nice but the service was very slow... we waited over 30 minutes for our food (which is a long time at lunch- especially when I was on a 1 hour break). And then when it finally came one persons meal was delayed for another 5 minutes. That meant by the time we were actually eating it was almost 40 minutes after we ordered. That being said, the food was very good. I would go back- but only when I was not in a rush.
Wow! A new Japanese restaurant in Gordon! This place is neatly designed with a nice view of Gordon (carpark and train station) and modern decor. We came to eat here and ordered two sets which were a bit pricey but came down to value. These sets did take longer to arrive than we had expected them to take but it was all made up for as the service was top notch from the serviette laying to the drink serving. The food was nice but the miso soup was a bit more tart than they have in Kashin. The service was very good and the manager even gave us free ice-cream at the end! Overall this restaurant was very nice (7/10)
Came here for a weekend lunch, where the menu was more focused on the usual 'sets' you get at Japanese restuarants. We ordered the sashimi set and chicken katsu curry set, both of which came with generous amounts of rice, miso soup and salad. The sashimi was lovely, silky and fresh, the chicken katsu crisp. The curry sauce was a little ordinary. I ordered one of the more 'fine dining' dishes, a miso-orange grilled organic chicken with mashed potato and salad, and while it was presented like a beautiful work of art (think Masterchef), the flavours weren't complex and quite achieveable for a home cook.
Friendly and attentive service, the background music varies from Abba pop to classical, which can be a bit disjointed.
