Academic & General Bookshops

My son's school book list is handled by Academic & General's Booklist dept at Ascott Vale. I selected the home delivery option because it is supposed to be sent out a week earlier than school book collection day and it would save me from having to take time off work. I returned the completed order form to the school in November and they charged my credit card in early December. On book collection day , February 3 , the order had still not been delivered and I had to wait in a line of equally angry customers at Ascott Vale to collect the books. Five of the seven text books and several stationery items were missing. The invoice showed they had only started putting the order together the day before and the missing items were out of stock and on order !!.

Absolutely hopeless service . Don't waste your time and money.

Staff here are rude and do not have much customer service. Never have all required books in stock which means having to wait for them to come in. Ive had to order books at the start of January because they hadn't arrived or weren't in stock even if the website states 'in stock'.

Last year, i waited a term and a half before receiving the books i had ordered, and i had to call to follow it up. Even then staff were always unhappy.

To bad there isn't another book shop like them. Or if there is please let me know!

The staff here are always helpful. Especially during the busy school period where everyone wants to get their school booklist over and done with, these guys are fast and efficient with helping out. But, it's best to go early to get your school books as some tend to sell out and need t be re-ordered.
