Ace Rental Cars

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will charge you for additional fees at drop-off so any money saved from not booking directly with a company in the airport will be lost! What a complete and utter disgrace.

Today when we dropped off our car, a staff member (Rebecca, a seriously angry red-head) aggressively approached us and almost immediately said ‘You are going to be charged a cleaning fee!’ When we politely enquired why, she rudely exclaimed it was due to sand (yes, there was some sand, but not an excessive amount and certainly not enough to warrant the $250 cleaning fee she was insisting that we would have to pay). ...read more

Booked a car on line, but when I got to their depot I was told it would be an extra $19.00 per day (not a trifling sum as I'd booked it for 10 days) when I pointed out that I had agreed to a different price on line, I was told to take it or leave it. Then to add insult to injury the car they gave me was a total heap.

Also the location of their depot is very inconvenient to Brisbane Airport.

A few points. #paid on line for mid sized car - given a Getz and told it was a mid sized car (not sure what you would get if you orders a small car) #paid amount online and then received statement and was A$200 more (apparently we had booked through a "trawler" in Ireland so had to pay A$200 in tax) The company said they couldn't do anything about that. Had a friend staying so went to add her name at a few dollars a day extra for one week. Had to pay the extra for our entire 4 week hire instead of just the week she would be there to use the car. #be prepared to pay quite a bit more to bring excess down - it is $3000 with the regular rental. If you have travel insurance this may include that. Will be going to a more well known and reputable company next time even if it costs a bit more.
