Acland Cakes

The window display of cakes and treats is impressive, however the quality and taste leave a lot to be desired. The coffees took ages to come out and the Florentine was very very disappointing. The lemon cake was acceptable. The serivce is extremely slow and not worth the wait.

Had the worst cake experience, that too when i had newly landed in melbourne.

- thought they would be doing superb cakes considering the awesome variety they had on display! So very excitedly ordered a chocolate cake! And Bam! It was disaster! The cake sponge was soggy in some bitter syrup which i think by being in fridge for days had seeped amd completelt spoiled the base. The cream was too thick. The cake was just plain awful!

Notified the owner of the bad experience

The coffee was okay though.

Huge variety to choose from, friendly staff and the food tastes great.

so many cakes to choose from, we had a custard fruit flan and the vanilla slice which were both delicous but a bit expensive at $6+. the lemon meringue tarts looked great with lots of piped meringue on top.

Acland cakes has a large range of cakes and one of my friends swears by the Baba au Rhum but the cakes are only so-so. The coffee is good and the atmosphere is good. And they have one heck of a lot of competition.
