Acorn Nursery

Bought a dozen of Princess Lavindar at the acorn nursery in November 2020 after lockdown, 4-5 died though planted at the same time, facing the sunny part. Went to the nursery hoping to get refund or exchange. The lady's answer was abrupt :" No! We sold u the healthy plants!" . I was very much taken back by her. What about the other healthy plants did not die ? Very unreasonable. After spending lots of money over the years there, this is the reward for the royal customer!

We attend regularly. As a nursery it is outstanding, although slightly more expensive than Bunnings. It has an excellent range of plants & seedlings available - all beautifully cared for and watered. Good range of potting mix, composts, top dress for lawns as well as fertilizers, grass seeds and essential garden implements. Nursery staff are both helpful and knowledgeable. All plants purchased from Acorn survive as they are meant to.
We just scan the gift shop and don't really purchase there.
However, the cafe seems to still be a let down i.e. expensive, service lacking. [Maybe cafe staff are not trained in customer service].

I would give the nursery itself a 5-star rating; beautiful, serene, well laid out, well maintained plants, good variety of plants and clear labelling (indoor plants, shade-loving, etc) which makes finding what needed easier. Some groups also have the details displayed- eliminating the need to flip each information label on the pots. Staff were friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Quite a large and spacious nursery. Very busy when we were here on a weekend. There is a gift shop selling accessories, jewellery, toys, clothing, fake plants etc.

My partner and I live within walking distance from this gorgeous little nursery, yet as it's a tad expensive, rarely buy anything or dine there. Though last weekend we didn't have our children with us so decided to stroll over and have a nice relaxed breakfast.



The weather was mild and the inside tables were mostly taken so we opted for an outdoor table. It was actually really lovely and serene dining amongst the greenery.



We both ordered fried eggs on sourdough bread, nothing over exciting but it was satisfying and the sourdough was really yummy, though they buttered my bread which I normally wouldn't do with my eggs. Next time I'll know to ask them to hold the butter.



My coffee was pretty standard but enjoyable all the same.



I wouldn't waste my money bringing MY kids here as they wouldn't eat enough to justify the cost but for a chilled morning with my partner it was great!

this a lovely looking nursery and gift shop and cafe. there are some lovely homewares, jewellery, pet accesories and clothing also for sale with nursery plants. it is all a bit pricey though, i guess what you would expect at surrey hills. the cafe there "oaks cafe" is a busy place (on site car park can be full and may need to wait for a table at times) with seating indoors and outdoors amongst nursery. serves breakfast and lunch (most food ready made). food on offer includes fritatas, breaky egg dishes, lasagne, sandwiches, salads, etc and drinks include all the usual cold and hot drinks. the coffees were ok my iced coffee was very weak. staff were not overly friendly. the meals were a bit pricey for the size, ingredients and considering not freshly made while you wait. i had a chicken sandwich which was made with cheap white bread with almonds celery and mayonaise (4 fingers for $12) with some side greens. there was a small table and chairs for kids with one abacus to ...read more
