I must admit, the rooftop pool sold me on this hotel! Everywhere you turn there are so many interesting touches and design features. The gym is well-equipped and a great place to work off the worst dietary excesses! I booked two friends in who came to town at short notice for funeral and decided to spend a night here myself to maximise our time. Staff was wonderful and so thoughtful. I ate far too much. While I don't find the room aesthetic very warm and fuzzy, it's very funky and arty.
Stayed here again recently and have to say its lost the charm that it once had when it first open. While the rooms are large and comfy, they feel somewhat dated now but the bed is amazingly comfortable and after a long day a great retreat. Bathrooms are huge too. The most disappointing part was the service and restaurant. I very rarely go the hotel restaurant but I was in a rush and needed a quick breakfast. The service was horrible. If you are going to go to the effort having an onsite restaurant, then you should make sure it makes decent coffee and has friendly service. It was a bad way to end my stay.
This is probably one of the best boutique hotels in Australia. In fact, I can't even find a flaw about this hotel. Great place to stay when you want an indulgent weekend in Melbourne. If you cant afford to stay here, then you should at least try and eat at the restaurant in the hotel.
