Adriano Zumbo Patisserie

You know you've made it when you've inspired a Facebook appreciation group. 'The Adriano Zumbo Appreciation Society' group (boasting close to three hundred members) has brought people from all over the world who have at some point stepped through the doors of the world acclaimed Balmain patisserie: 'Adriano Zumbo' together on the internet to oogle over pictures and discuss Zumbo's latest creations.

The patisserie, which represented Australia as a nation in the Coup du Monde de la Patissier? and Chocolate Masters?, has recently opened up a chocolate cafe portion. Serving coffee, meals such as cakes and quiches as well as their acclaimed chocolates.

"I want to come back to Australia just for them!" writes one user from Spain on the Facebook wall. As for me, I'm already thinking about what bus route to take...

He’s the man who has set out to ‘caramelise the nation’, and judging by the queues outside his patisserie, Adriano Zumbo is well on the way to success. Balmain has embraced his quirky creations like ‘4Times the Vitamin C’ – a blackcurrant jelly and marshmallow ball with vanilla violet mousse and pistachio feuilletine. If you can’t squeeze into this hole-in-thewall, head to Rozelle to Zumbo’s Chocolat Café (reopening mid-August).

Extraordinarily well known and loved patisserie especially for its famous macarons. Personally I love the rich choc brownie type options, the intricately styled cakes aren't so much to my taste but you have to admire the skill in presentation for sure. The breads are excellent too.

Absolutely delicious!! Make sure you get the macaroons on the day of your event though as they won't be as light and fluffy how they usually are. When they are fresh, they melt in your mouth!

Whilst Zumbo is known for macaroons and cakes (which are wonderful), I would highly recommend you try the bread. What a delight to have this patisserie in balmain. Only downside is the crowds during masterchef season, but locals know to go mid week to avoid a line
