AFL
Australian Football LeagueThe Modern AFL was created in 1990 after the VFL (Victorian Football League) governing made a conscious decision to market the completion as the official Australian national league and renamed itself accordingly. It has gone ahead over the years to professionally run and manage the entire footy spectrum by injecting professionalism to all participating teams in the league, improving the standards considerably.
AFL as a body affects very tight and stringent controls over the list of players each team in the league can have. Each team is currently limited to having a senior list team of between 38 and 40 players and rookie players between 4 and 6; thus no team can have more than 44 players in the AFL run league.
