When I heard about Ajisen opening up in Burwood I was very enthusiastic about giving it a go. And boy it did not disappoint. The broth in their pork cheek Ramon was heart and flavoursome. The serving sizes here are decent and coupled with the gyoza and green tea I was very satisfied. There is something on the menu for everyone here and if ramen (Japanese noodle soup) is not your thing then you can try the bento boxes or even the curry tonkatsu (Japanese pork curry). Service is fairly which is all that matters.
A very good improvement in service; friendly and fast- but we were there in early dinner times when there was only 1 other family. There are meal deals which suit families. Prices are a bit high for the value. The ramen is salty but quite tasty although the beef was very chewy and tasteless. Open 7 days.
Having eaten at the Ajisen-Ya in the city many times, I was expecting pretty much the same at the Ajisen Ramen in Hawthorn. How mistaken I was. The food (I ordered small fried rice!) took over 20 mins to arrive, not to mention the miso soup (already in a heated pot!) taking about ten minutes to arrive. Furthermore the staff at the restaurant looked quite lost and seemed unhappy to help. If you only have the luxury of a 30 minutes lunch, this is not the place to dine!
