I've lived in Albany for many years. And at the moment, I reckon these guys make the best chips in town. Can't comment on the fish because I don't usually buy it. I prefer to fry local sardine ( or "mulie") fillets at home as I know that's a truly sustainable fishery. (And I reckon sardines are really tasty anyway. )
But the chips - these guys are the best.
We are from interstate and were staying at a nearby caravan park and thought that some fish and chips would make a great meal on Saturday night (Nov 2) and chose the Albany Fish and Chip Shop as it was close. The premises were very clean and the staff well presented and polite. I chose Whiting and chips as I thought it would be local fish. The fish was inedible as there was a skin on one side of each piece that could not be chewed. The flesh was so dry and hard that we ended up throwing it away - $18.00 wasted. What was this whiting???? Did it swim from Asia somewhere?
Coming from the owner of Albany Fish and Chips we apologize for your bad experience with us. It was a bad batch of whiting and we have since changed suppliers. We do not import any fish from Asia.
Kind regards, Kevin.
