It was my cousins birthday and we chose Andre's Cucina to eat and celebrate. When I called to make the booking we could only get a table outside, but they had us on a reservation list if someone cancelled. On the night it was full house inside! This place certainly is a popular one. To our food, the dishes and desserts we ordered were delicious, however it was on the pricey side. You get what you pay for at least. The service was pretty good until it got closer to the end of the night where it kinda veered off great and table service was a little forgotten. Other than that, was a lovely night.
Several of my friends have urged me to go Andres and try it but I've been reluctant as it's a tv show spin off and I'm not convinced that a few weeks on tv equates to a multi year apprenticeship (but that is purely my opinion and I acknowledge that there are a lot of successful cooks out there). Plus there's always the question of how much of the success is due to the tv hype.
I took one of my friends for breakfast that has eaten there for lunch and raved about it. We were both in agreement that it wasn't up there with our favourite breakfasts. The italian sausage that came with our eggs had been cut up into miniscule pieces and fried to a crisp. The omelette roulade looked promising but was lacking seasoning. Both dishes came with rocket on the side that hadn't been dressed and due to the heat of the dishes, looked limp and uninviting on the plate.
On the up side, the service was good all through the meal and the coffee was decent.
