My recommendation is stay well away from this place.
Took my 7 month old toy poodle here after it had ingested some snail bait. It was the weekend and so there weren't too many vets open at the time.
After a few minutes of being there the staff had evaluated the dog and a vet came out to talk to me. I was told they had tested its gag reflex but they were not able to get it to throw up. They then said it would require overnight treatment and that it would cost between $3000 and $4000. They said that without ...read more
Another vet advised we had less than 20% chance of saving our pup from a trauma emergency but we were told we had a chance if we took him to the Animal Accident & Emergency vet in Essendon fields I agreed after being told it would cost approximately $2000. After arriving was told it would cost $3500 just to keep him alive then additional costs if he did which could end up around $10000 plus. We were offered on the spot finance and told it was no big deal and many clients had debts exceeding $40000. It was like they were holding a gun to my teenage daughters head. She opted to remove the oxygen tube and he died instantly. Waa hit with a $450plus bill and told if we wanted to keep his cremated remains it would be an additional $400plus on top of that. Try another provider. These profit from pet owners at their most vulnerable time
Unfortunately our elderly small dog was attacked by a large dog on a Sunday afternoon. We took our dog to this vet as she had a deep cut in her leg. The vet said staples would be appropriate and they would only have to sedate her, rather than put her under a general for stitches. After putting in 2 staples and giving us a cone so she wouldn't bite the wound, we left. The staples were meant to stay in for 10 days before removal by the vet. Within 24 hours one staple had come out, the second came out within 4 days. We phoned to ask if they could re-insert the staples but they said we would have to pay again. This is not a cheap vet. Not once during the phone call did they ask about the welfare of our dog, about the state of the wound or any possible infection. The only thing they talked about was the cost of bringing her back in, a minimum of $300. Yesterday we took our dog to another vet, today she is having a general anaesthetic because the wound has worsened and ...read more
Very good service at this emergency vet clinic. We arrived at 11.30pm on a Saturday night as my cat was passing blood clots. We were seen immediately by a nurse who took all the relevant details (about 20 minutes) and then we only had to wait 10 minutes to see the vet. The consultation was thorough and caring. Options were given in relation to the scope of the tests (e.g. full or limited blood tests) and approximate costs were advised. It is handy that when you arrive as an emergency patient that tests are done then and there - we waited about 30 minutes for the results which was great (i.e. we didn't have to come back). The overall cost was quite fair given we didn't leave until almost 1am and had a consult, blood test, urine test, and 2 lots of medication to take home. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes you pay more than your standard vet but for an emergency scenario I thought it was quite reasonable. I would recommend this clinic for emergency situations.
