Catherine is a qualified Veterinary Nurse with over 15 years experience in the Pet industry. She started her career in Katherine NT as a trainee Vet Nurse studying via correspondence, when her now husband Matthew went there to work as an electrician repairing the town after the devastating 1998 flood. They stayed on long after the water receded and the town was rebuilt, with Catherine returning to QLD twice yearly to sit exams.
In 2001 they returned to South Australia to marry before settling in QLD where Catherine quickly found work as head vet nurse in an inner city clinic. Here she gained further knowledge taking puppy pre-school classes.
Whilst on Maternity leave in 2004, Catherine began volunteering for animal rescue groups such as RSPCA and wildlife group ONARR.
Her Family successfully cared for an orphaned wallaroo for 9 months before it was released back to the wild.
Catherine returned to the work place in 2007 in the retail pet industry. Catherine soon became aware of the high costs to families pet ownership can bring, but was also very aware of the profit these retail stores were making.
Catherine saw an alarming increase at pets being abandoned because people could simply not afford to keep them. These animals, unable to be re-homed, were euthanized.
In bid to provide customers the ability to care for there pets without compromising family needs animalshack.com.au was born!

AnimalShack has always provided me with great value for money and has been significantly cheaper than other competing shops. Catherine has always managed to deliver anything that I've order within a few days of me ordering it and best of all it is free delivery for anyone in the Redlands area.
I've often asked her odd ball questions not expecting an answer and she has always answered within a few days with a solution to the problem that I was having. I've been constantly amazed at depth of knowledge that Catherine possesses.
Catherine will go out of her way to make sure that I've got whatever I'm after for the two Labradors that I own and has even gone out of her way to add products to her store just so that I could buy them at unbelievably cheap prices!
I'm an extremely satisfied customer of AnimalShack and I recommend it to anyone who needs to buy anything pet related.
I bought a dog accessory in November - despite having measured my dog, the item was too small. I phoned several times and got an answering machine, tried to email - no response. It was not until I said in an email that I would advise consumer affairs and PayPal that they even bothered to send a terse reply. And deducted the postage from the refund after I sent the item back! NEVER dealing with them again.
Customer purchased harness in December. As advised on our website we were closed during a two week period over Christmas. Customer did try and contact us during this time. Obviously unaware we were closed. Once we resumed trade an email was sent advising her that she was welcome to return the item and a refund would be sent as per our terms and conditions.
A hyperlink to our terms and condition on returns was sent. It clearly state we reserve the right to charge a restocking fee of 15% or $10 whichever is the greater. On receiving the goods back we immediately issued a refund less a $10 restocking not postage as she claims. Our guide to measuring your dog to get the correct size is taken straight from the manufacturers web site and today I have clarified with them that this is correct and up to date, so we take no responsibility for her ordering the incorrect size.
I have been shopping on animalshack.com.au for 4 months now and buy all my dog food, worming, flea products, treats everything from Catherine. I have saved hundreds of dollars so far! Delivery is always next day, or the day after and best of all its free because I live within 15 km of Vicky Point!!! Im so glad I found animalshack. Kylie F. Thornlands QLD
