I went back to Antipasto for a coffee only to discover it has been sold and new owners are taking over shortly. I'm not really sure what it will offer- whether it will continue in the same vein or not. Most other customers must have already worked this out as it was empty yet again. Serious completion from nearby will make this interesting. The coffee is still ok.
If you are looking for a very overpriced tasteless sandwich served by an incredibly rude and unpleasant woman called Sonia, come here. I've had better food in school tuck-shops! I keep hoping things will change but my optimism is misplaced. I went two days ago for lunch and ordered a grilled sandwich to take away. When I got back to my desk to eat my sandwich the contents were burnt to a crisp! I went back to complain and was told "it's not too bad, you can still eat it" by the manager. The manager obviously has ZERO customer service skills and ZERO interest in food. I was not offered a replacement or refund or even an apology. My colleague at work also had several bad experiences there with lunch foods. You can't even get a decent cup of coffee anymore. The shop looks weird too- they have rearranged it so there are no real "gourmet" foods to buy (hardly a "delicatessen" anymore) and the actual part customers can walk into is incredibly small and tight. Antipasto was a great lunch spot and deli where you could pick up some excellent gourmet foods. Unfortunately, with new management all those gourmet foods are gone and selection of lunch dishes is painfully small. The very ordinary cakes in the external fridge have replaced the gourmet focaccias and on several occasions they have been out of lunch foods as early as 12:30pm. This is reflected in the fact that it's nearly always empty. It's main selling point: fine European produce and gourmet focaccias and pasta dishes is missing. Better value elsewhere.
Antipasto is under new management and the change has been for the better. Staff is keen to please and the same range of goods is available. They stock the best pre-prepared home-made gnocchi I've ever tasted! The focaccia and the coffee is good too. The cold cuts and cheeses are delightful too. Try the Spanish Manchego, it's fabulous!
I cannot recommend this place highly enough! The choice of delicatessen items is top quality from around the world including some of the most delicate and flavoursome regional deli items. Yummy foccacias and lots of home-cooked pasta dishes to eat in or take-away. Staff is delightful!
