Aperitivo
This new wine bar and restaurant proves Italians do share plates with better style. We love the small tables along the side-wall but the bar up front is great for people-watching. Start the evening with a Caprioska before grazing on silky goats cheese gratin salad and pancetta wrapped scallops. Just make sure you leave room for the plump pillows of chocolate and chestnut dessert ravioli.
One of my favourite restaurants of all time. We only found this after visiting Italy for the first time, and became aware of AVPN certified pizza. So I scoured google for where such places are in Sydney and imagine my delight when I found one in our own Norton St.
Everything here is fantastic. The pizza is obviously great - cooked in an authentic style using quality ingredients. This has completed my journey from the pizza of my childhood (keep cramming on the ingredients) to the minimalist "less is more" and let everything speak for itself.
Other food items on the menu are also excellent - this introduced me to nduja (the calzone).
A very extensive and reasonably priced wine list with (obviously) many Italian options. They also make a mean Aperol and Solerno Spritz.
Frederica and the team are the best - we are enthusiastically greeted on every visit and you could not be looked after better.

This is one of my favourite spots in Sydney. I love Italian food, from appetizers to pastas to pizzas to the wine. Here therevis all of that plus more on offer and it is all delicious. This is a wine bar & restaurant, dark & moody, fun & romantic. It is Italian food taken to new, modern heights. Dishes are beautifully presented & creative, ingredients & pasta are fresh, pizza is one of the best in Sydney. Lots of wines by the glass means you can try & learn at the same time. I always feel satisfied leaving here with a happy tummy & big grin.
What’s no larger than 11 inches, soft, elastic and easily foldable? The Napoletana pizzas produced by Aperitivo’s Francesco Spataro. Dubbed the ‘godfather of Napoletana pizza’, Francesco consistently turns out what I believe to be the best pizzas in Sydney. The Italian Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana think so too, certifying him as one of only four Sydney pizzaiolo or pizza makers. My favourite is Salsiccia - topped with Taleggio, Italian sausage, mozzarella, radicchio and porcini mushrooms.
I just went here last week for my brother's 21st family dinner, and by far, best italian restaurant I have ever gone to locally. The food was exquisite, and we were all so beyond satisfied. We decided to share everything, with the mussels, polenta chips and stuffed zuzhini flowers for entree. Following from here we got the lamb pasta, seafood risotto with caviar, and a truffle paste based pizza with a salad on the side. It was so good we decided to also get a margharita pizza to top it off.
So happy with this place, the ambiance was beautiful with the dim lighting. I will be back.
