Archies Creek Royal Mail Hotel The Fox Hat

We travelled to Archies River Pub for dinner and share in a musical evening. We had heard that the pub had changed hands and the kitchen staff walked out but we thought we'd still support the pub that provides a venue for musicians to play. The, not so friendly, staff behind to bar informed us they only had a basic menu because there was no kitchen staff. However the price was still at top class chefs price. We decided to keep it simple and have the fish and chips with salad to share. At $24 we assumed is would be a large pub grub meal. WRONG. This was well below your average pub grub and the worst we had ever experienced. Plus the cheapest of the cheap wines were $22 a bottle. Sorry, but we won't be back.

Was recommended this pub in Archies Creek and dropped in on our way to a farm in the Gippsland area. The cutest pub I've seen in ages, with excellent food and the hosts Bazil and Leanne were hilarious - we wanted to stay there all day. BTW they do have accommodation. They don't have a website and i promised them that i'd note this on Facebook. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.
