After getting my Prado's clutch replaced for a very reasonable price (compared to many others) I realized I had found a decent mechanic. When I bought a Hilux with a corroded timing belt case (found out the hard way two weeks after purchase) Chris and Eddy put a quote together and completed the work with no fuss and in good time. Given the nature of the repair and the willingness of Artarmon Automotive to actually do the job (compared to two local mechanics that wanted nothing to do with the job) I will be returning to these guys for future servicing etc. Very happy with there workmanship.
ZERO STARS. Avoid like the plague. I brought in an expertly maintained Saab, and because it was covered by a AWN warranty. A simple heater tap, which is cheap and easy to fix turned into a head gasket leak. I took the car to my trusted mechanic for years, who had just serviced the car, and has serviced 6 of my cars in the past three years and Artarmon Automotive has done something to destroy the head gasket. I will be going to Fair Trading. I can to tell people to avoid these people like the plague. Stay far away.
So let me get this straight, you decided to avoid using your trusted mechanic of 6 years to take it to a mechanic you had never used before, for what you describe as a simple fix (which by the way your trusted mechanic missed when he had just serviced the car). This comment does not add up, so readers should take this negative review with a pinch of salt. I have used these guys for many years and have never had an issue. They have done exactly what I have asked for each time at a reasonable price.
I was really disappointed with the service I received at Artarmon Automotive. After reading a couple of positive reviews of their business online, I took my car to them for repairs after it broke-down. They were extremely slow, discourteous and frankly tried to rip me-off. I followed their recommendations and advice for three weeks, before deciding that the circus had gone on long enough. I picked up my car, with repairs incomplete, payed the bill, and took it to another mechanic. I have posted this review so that others looking for a mechanic in Northern Sydney can avoid a similar experience to my own.
