Asakusa Japanese Restaurant

Asakusa is a Chinese-inspired Japanese restaurant, ideal for a cheap Asian meal but not if you are after authentic Japanese cuisine. It is popular with the locals especially students after a decent feed and is guaranteed to be busy at lunch and dinner time.

We had dinner here last night.

Shabu Shabu is so much fun shared. I introduced my other half to it, even after explaining to him repeatedly that it's not soup!

I'm yet to have a bad meal here. The food is always very yummy. The staff are lovely.

The decor leaves much to be desired, but I'm not there to stare at their walls, I'm there to play with my food!!!

Had a late lunch here on the weekend with a friend, the food is good. They were playing Beyonce which my friend commented on as not being very inspired choice. So it's pretty relaxed and if you want a casual dinner then it is ok. If you want to have a special night with a date there are restaurants with nicer decor and atmosphere that are similarly priced in Chinatown.

I've tried the dumplings(Gyoza) and even not Japanese style fried dumplings. The sushi roll(Maki) is sooo rough. You can go other places for a better quality Bento box but seriously not this one. This restaurant is for people who have no idea what is true Japanese food !

Delicious food, service can be hit and miss when you dine in however. Home delivery is always on time (if not early) and always still hot when we get it. The chicken yaki udon is yummy.

Very impressive selection of sushi and the food was very nice as well. I knew the owner before the current one and he used to make a really nice fried udon but now the service has gone downhill. I really wish they could bring back the fried udon!
