Called ASAP electrical on 1800707155 as they came up at No. 2 on google search for emergency electricians. They passed on my details to "SAM" who contacted us, making it appear all along that he was from ASAP electrical. "Sam" who charged us $902 for repairing 2 safety switches has his own company - JMS Electrical Services Pty Ltd. (deregistered from the company's register by ASIC and not registered for GST which did not stop him from charging ius GST) . When I called ASAP back to report him, they claimed they did not know "Sam" . He had just dropped off his business cards with them for the inner west area and they had passed on my details to him. ASAP then had the audacity to tell me to always check the licence number of the tradesperson who comes to our house and have the price fixed in advance!!!
Based on our own experience, we must agree with the other two reviews here. On 1 Nov 2012, ASAP plumbing charged us $416 for the simple job of replacing the thermocouple of our gas hot water system. Because I wasn't at home at the time, they completely took advantage of my parents' unawareness of the market rate for this sort of service, which should've been between $170 - $190. This is the sort of thing that gives plumbers and tradesmen in general a really bad name. Complaint to the NSW OFT for sure!
I wish I had read some reviews (and got some quotes) before using ASAP plumbing. Charged $1500 for leak location ($910 for first hour then $298!!!!! for each 1/2 hour after). Found out later that other companies charge around $380 for this service. I wrote to ASAP to ask why they were so expensive and despite resending the email and calling a number of times I have had no response from them.
Seriously overcharging for simple jobs!
They advertise a $50 Off internet deal which sounded attractive. There is a call out fee to inspect the job - I understand this to be fairly normal practise. The plumber onsite quoted, which when combined with the call-out fee, resulted in nearly $500 to fix a leaking toilet valve! I was gob-smacked. This is extremely poor value for money & I strongly advise against using these guys.
