Came back for another $12 lunch with the family, why not when the menu has good choices to pick from and the price is great. We did enjoy it here last time and the space and staff are wonderful. This time I ordered the chicken parmigiana and wow was that a huge serving size! It was made well too, very satisfying. Double-thumbs up!
My family and I came here as we heard they had a $12 lunch menu so we gave it a try! Good everyday choices to choose from and the food we ordered was cooked/made well, yummy and decent sized. I would come back again with prices like that! Might look at holding party here if they let me use that menu.
This is one of those pubs that has a bit of history with me. I still remember coming here and a teenager with some friends for the nightclub, though I am not all that sure if it is still happening these days. It's a pretty cool pub, and on my latest visit hasn't changed all that much. I suspect that the nightclub is upstairs (but that was closed on my latest visit). They have a pretty cool restaurant, which serves a decent schnitzel (which is how I rate pubs here in Adelaide – since I can't get a decent beef schnitty interstate). Okay, it is a bit out of the way, but I still quite like the place, and they do have a happy hour (as well as a couple of craft beers on tap). Also, it doesn't get as packed as some of the other places that I've been to. If anything, it is a pub with memories.
The Astor dining menu has quite a large range to choose from including kids meals. The items are reasonably priced and the serving sizes I seen going around as well as the dishes my table ordered were decent too. As for the meals we had ordered, unfortunately I found the crispy chicken strips quite dry and tasteless and same goes with the chicken wrap. Not a bad pub, but nothing outstanding either.
I went to the Astor last week for a meal with some friends after being recommended by a family friend. It was a Wednesday night, and it was very busy, and I was informed that they were pretty much fully booked as they have a trivia night and Steak night running on Wednesdays. I expected that we wouldn't get a seat, but the staff went out of their way to get us a table in a quiet room just off the dining room. We were informed that there would be a wait on food when we were seated but ensured that they would do their very best to get our meals out. When we ordered, we were once again recommended the $10 steak special and also their wine and beer specials which I think were part of happy hour. ...read more
