Aubergine Restaurant

The degustation menu is fantastic and the five courses that I experienced were absolutely delicious, leaving me satisfied and intrigued what flavours the next dish would bring. Nice atmosphere and dcor. The staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back. One of Canberra's most prestige restaurants...without the pretentiousness.

From the moment the waitstaff opened the door for you on approaching the restuarant, this was a fantastic experience. The menu was varied, with the biggest problem of the night being choosing what to have. The wine list was extensive, with the waiter knowledgable and able to recommend wines and side dishes to match all diners. The food itself was nothing short of astounding, and in serving sizes sufficient that everyone left the table satisfied but not groaning, something of a rarity in some fine dining establishments. Ambience was excellent, with a fantastic atmosphere. As noted in other reviewa, this is not a restuarant for a crowd, this is a restuarant for an intimate dinner for two or four. Full marks for the entire experience

I thought the degustation menu which we ordered was very good.
The wine list could be worked on a bit - it doesn't cover the range of the food on offer very well.

I'd heard from someone that they didn't like it here, but I've returned many times and found it to be always pushing itself to provide a complete fine-dining night out. The degustation menus are great and the setting of the place id very charming.

fantastic food and service. You get the quality and service as Sydney but not the prices. The size of each of the courses was normal size, not shrunken like Sydney sizes. Some of the vegies were a little salty but the rest of the food was fantastic. If you are going down to Canberra and need a place to eat, then definitely recommend this place.
