auntie mai warmly welcomes you to her eatery. after living in australia for 36 years, she shares her passion for vietnamese food alongside the "western" flavours she has adopted as her own.
auntie mai believes in delicious, simple food; cooked at home to be enjoyed by family and friends. she serves to you her favourite childhood dishes (including the techniques she has learnt from her mother). vietnamese cooking is fresh and fragrant utilising beautiful herbs and spices.
born as one of 7 children into a working class family in saigon, auntie mai migrated to australia in 1979 after escaping by boat to pulau pudong, malaysia carrying her 1 year old daughter. she was also pregnant during her time on the camp. she desperately wanted to begin a new life for her growing family.
she is now a mother to 3 women and has 4 beautiful grandchildren. her family is very important and so is her food. they are inseparable. the aroma and flavours always remind auntie mai of her heritage and her new life.
