I wouldn't recommend using this company to anyone. We were literally praying for the car to make it to the end of our adventure because the car was very old and in bad mechanical conditions. The steering wheel, the engine, the gearbox, the clutch, were just about to die. We were worried because if the clutch stops working they make you responsible. It was not a pleasant experience at all. The worst is the treatment that we received from the owner when we returned the car and told him that we were worried about the car during our time on Fraser Island. He yelled and insulted us, a was very racist. The best of luck if you decide to use it for your Fraser island 'adventure'.
Refer to google reviews and read the poor feedback description on Trip Adviser to get an accurate account of what this company is all about. They have terrible old cars and try to pin blame and inflated expenses onto customers. Be warned!!
I will correct this for all if you look at the reviews you will see that there are a lot more good than bad and the poor reviews seem to be by people who have damaged the car. I have rented with this company and had an amazing time and NO PROBLEMS
I would highly recommend to anybody thinking of this company to read the bad reviews and Moreno importantly review the responses which all make out that the customer was the bad person trying to damage Aussie Trax property. In some cases the replies themselves tell you who you are dealing with. If you lucky you will have a good time. If not the owner is nasty and abusive.... its up to you to take the chance but I know me and the 10 travers who used their services will certainly not be recommending Aussie Trax to anybody.
Rented a very expensive 4wd car to go on Fraser Island. The car was in very bad conditions: rust everywhere and the engine failure signal already on as they give the car to us. After few hours the car started leaking water from the radiator, which was actually broken. We always drove VERY careful, always following their driving suggestions but... it got broken anyway....
The funny thing was that it got fixed in 5 min by the island mechanic just putting black pepper in it, no more leaking at all!
Not only we lost an entire day of our holiday trying to get back, but they also charged us 500$ for a damage that we didn't cause!!
Total cost of the operation: 1400 $, for half day of fun and 1 day of troubles
When I rent a car, The management here didn't give us enough explanation and After tour, they found fault with something which they didn't explain to us Ofcourse we didn't know about that!
And they requested us that we have to pay a fine about renting car. According to them there were some damage. we had to pay $1000 for that damage. It was so ridiculous. We don't know where did car get some damage.
But We wanted to be willing to pay a fine when we discuss about fine, they were waiting for us
we didn't say "we won't pay a fine"
