My experience with Australian Hot Water is very similar to some of the negative reviews here. First of all - a word of warning - Australian Hot Water sub-contracts the jobs out - so sometimes youre lucky and sometimes your not. So I'd thought I'd write up my recent experience (in 2013) so you can make your own mind up.

Expensive, Had a solar hot water system installed and they (according to the manufacturer) are supposed to have a minimum 12mm cold water pipe feed. Instead they took an 8mm internal pipe from the roof, resulting in low hot water pressure. When I complained they came and "fixed it" at a cost and have run a larger pipe up the house and connected it to the 8 mm pipe again instead of running the 12mm pipe into the hot water system. Net result I have low pressure hot water!
This is for Australian Hot Water in Canberra.
They came and looked at my hot water system the day after I rang which was good. However the minimum price for a call out is way too high. $160 for the call out and a minimum of 20 minutes work. They were at my place for 5 minutes. Opened the system's panel, said it was a good system and that nothing was wrong with it.
So really I payed $160 for a 20 minute drive (max) and a 5 min inspection. I was expecting to pay about $90.
