Went to Jurrassic Lounge for halloween and we had such a fantastic time!

Won tickets and so my partner and I went along to see what all the fuss was about as I'd never been to one before.

We had soooo much fun! From the glow in the dark painting (he painted me gleefully) to the performances and engaging MC. I was sure the penguins were zombified and kept waiting for them to waddle and make some weird noises along the lines of "alrgh lgrgh nomnom" - unfortunately I was dragged away before this ...read more

We are so lucky in Sydney to have so many great galleries and museums. The Australian Museum is conveniently located near Hyde Park and offers multiple floors to explore. The last exhibition we saw here was the Explorers which had a great interactive element. Each year, they also offer free entry one weekend.

So this is a review of the Museum and the cafe on Level 4

So I recently took my four year old son to the museum which was about his 3rd visit in his life. We really go for the dinosaurs and the small paleontology pit which allows hit to dig up bones. He doesn't even watch the video on 4min loop, "boring."

At four years old, the stuffed animals really doesn't cut it when you see many of them alive at the zoo. Nor does any of the other ...read more

Review to win entry OVER 8 years AGO

Australian Museum is definitely a nice place to learn about living creatures, ranging from dinosaurs up to insects, from the olden days up to the surviving species seen in the land of Australia.

In addition to an extensive breadth of showcase, there are also different kinds of interactive tools not only limited to the modern tablet touch screens but also some artifacts that are available to touch and/or view under the microscope. Speaking of which, there are a lot of these available at the Search & Discover section.

The place itself is a re-purpose of the old heritage building, resulting in sectioned maze-like areas of the museum. The atmosphere is also a mix between the old and the new fit out for added convenience. Rooftop cafe has quite a nice view but sadly the atmosphere was akin to a cafeteria in a research company back in the 70s and the outdoor area is off limits.

I last visited the museum when a nature photography display was showing. It was well presented and curated. The staff are great and happily direct you around the place.

The place is a little dated (no pun intended). It could use a refresher and refurbishment.

The displays I have seen over many years are quite nice though. I will always have fond memories. It is a part of my history. (Ok, pun intended there).

Good way to spend a little bit of time when you are out and about. Kids like it.
