My wife used to get her car serviced here. after the service her car was throwing a code and on diagnosis this was a Thermo code. Mandurah Autobahn (MAB) told my wife this would cost her over $800 dollars as they had to replace the entire housing.
The part is $118 retail- let's say $150 as they want profit on parts.
Time to replace part, 20 mins as an apprentice- let's say for arguments sake it takes 1 hour for a Mechanic $130 ish
Replace coolant -flush system parts and labor if I allowed $60 bucks that would be very generous.
so $340 but lets chuck on a $10 for sundries and other items that don't exist. so $350. I would have paid that but $800 dollars that is just robbery.
I called the guy and even he seemed embarrassed and had no justification for that. I purchased the part, 35 mins job was done. cost $110, I got a discount on the thermo unit and had the coolant in the shed.
Will NEVER use this company again.

Autobahn only quotes on what is required and never performs work on the vehicle without approval from the customer, we also offer a lifetime workmanship warranty along with 12mths warranty on parts. I had my car serviced and they seemed to do a good job . It's an older car so they checked it thoroughly and identified a range of issues that needed fixing. They quoted $1500 (including the next service) to do the work. I understood that it was a firm quote.
Very shortly after I dropped the car off, Autobahn called me and told me that they had prepared a more accurate estimate of the cost and that it was now $1875. The final bill was $2075 - 38% increase! ...read more
