Baan Sabai Jai Thai Restaurant

The food/cooking cart out the front grabbed our attention one summer afternoon, so we had lunch outside. Service was quick and friendly and it's also a nice bonus to get complimentary tea (all Asian restaurants should do this in my opinion!). I had a lunch special which was an ideal size and tasted delicious. Being mango season, it was hard to pass on the sticky rice and mango and I'm glad I didn't - it was fantastic! Prices were surprisingly equivalent to Melbourne suburb pricing...I guess I expected it might be a little cheaper, but the quality was good so I wouldn't really complain. Very extensive menu. Returned here in autumn, ate inside (nice decor) and the food was still fantastic - the massaman beef curry with roti and the larb gai were fantastic. Ordered the sticky rice again, but it was with banana - did not compare to the amazing mango and sticky rice I had in summer - not helped by the drizzle of sickly sweet strawberry sauce.
