Set in a corner strip mall on a suburban street, the Backa Gourmet Foods outlet I visited is a small but aesthetically pleasing shop. Black and white tiled walls leave the hanging salumi – visible through a glass window into the climatically controlled cool room – to be the hero. The Revesby outlet store receives a delivery from their Queensland parent every Thursday, and then – along with their market trade - open up for business between 9am and 5pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sadly they freeze their delicate cevapi (skinless sausages) as soon as they arrive, in packs too big for our two-person home. I was forced to make do with bratwurst ($14.99/kg), which actually proved to be well priced and tasty enough for me to plan a return visit for more.
