Located only 60 minutes from Melbourne s CBD and 55 minutes from the Airport, Balgownie Estate is a 5 star resort housing 65 superbly appointed guest apartments with outstanding amenities. On entry, the oak lined drive takes the visitor to a contemporary designed rammed earth Cellar door that houses wine tasting and a restaurant. The cellar door and restaurant is stylish for both casual and formal dining. Using fresh local produce to create tantalising dishes influenced by European and Asian cuisine especially chosen to compliment and enhance the flavours of the Balgownie Estate wines. Our goal is to source produce from both the Yarra Valley and Bendigo wine regions to provide our dining visitors with a regionally distinctive food and wine experience. The current release Yarra Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are some great examples of what to expect-and more from the newly established Balgownie Yarra Valley label. Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa consists of 55 suites and 10 studio rooms. Studio rooms offer practical accommodation with a queen size bed and an ensuite with a shower as opposed to the luxury of the Spa suites. The spacious and comfortable living and dining areas enhance the luxury of a full size spa bath and king size bed in every suite. It's simply a matter of relaxing and enjoying the magnificent views of the Yarra Valley from your private balcony. Cosy intimate venue if you are after a wedding venue with a difference. I came here for my friend's wedding recently and was very impressed with the high quality service and range of wines on offer as well. They have beautiful views over looking the winery and also accomodation and spa on site if you are looking to stay over night.
Although small, its a nice facility and clean. Friendly staff. Massage was ok, nothing special. Vichy shower was disappointing, very cold room and apart from the water jets moving up and down my body, I was freezing so did not enjoy very much. Pedicure was good but for $90 it would want to be. Very pricy, more expensive than the other Natskin locations. Mum's facial cost $145 (ouch). Check pricing on their website before you decide on which location to go to. Nice if you want a day away for a bit of fun but be prepared to spend. Had lunch at the restaurant and although the food was great, the service was not great and it was expensive. Overall a bit disappointing especially since I'd heard so many good things about them before going.
Looking across grassland and vineyard, the Balgownie Estate suites are spacious and well kitted-out, with a galley kitchenette and small dining table, plus a balcony large enough for two to relax on. We were not enamoured of the bedroom being the closest room to the entrance with no line to the view. But we loved the fact that you can admire the view from the bathtub. And the spa products in the bathroom got a thumbs-up. The spa and gym offer top-notch quality and just the right amount of fuss. But what really sold us on the place was that on the night we decided wed rather nosh in than at the restaurant, but then discovered we couldnt eat most of the gluten-focused room service menu, the restaurant concocted a special meal and delivered it to the room with the kind of cheery service that suggested it wasnt at all a bother.

Renowned for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but also worth tasting is their Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and from their Maiden Gully Range Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay and Cabernet Shiraz. The accommodation is luxurious and perfect for couples planning that romantic getaway or for the ultimate girls weekend. Be sure to book a pampering treatment in the day spa - highly recommended is the Classic Spa Facial - a thorough cleansing and exfoliation followed by a detailed consultation. An elegant and spacious property located less than an hour's drive from Melbourne.
