Banrock is well known for its Wine and iconic wetlands in the Riverland. Having the pleasure of staying at Kingston on the Murray which is just down the road i decided to head down for a Saturday lunch time experience.
Nice little centre, easy parking, however the air condition could use an upgrade, was really muggy in the place. Menu was really sweet some awesome ...read more
Do yourself a favour and take a day trip here. Not only are the wines something different and great tasting but the whole wetlands experience is worth the trip in itself. It really is a pleasant way to spend a day watching the birdlife swim in the "lake" from the numerous hides. Great photo opportunities too.
Banrock Station also do lunch/light meals although unfortunately their menu is a little too "artsy-fartsy" for my liking. If you like things like goat, emu, fetta cheese and so forth you will be ok but not a beef steak or chicken schnitzel in sight. Disappointing really because that would really top the day off to be able to have a good meal there also.
That said, get down there, tasted some wine and buy heaps. What really impresses me about Banrock is that they put some of their profits into conservation and water preservation projects - highly admirable for a winery their size.
