Barclays Cafe

We used to love going to Barclays for lunch, but have been so disappointed by our last few visits that we won't return again.
We have received dirty glasses, the menu never seems to change, and we have been given the wrong meals. They also took ages to serve our meals last time, and we had 2 hungry kids with us who had only ordered toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. Any good cafe knows to get the kids meals out quick coz no one likes hangry kids!
It's a shame the place has gone so downhill as I love the back courtyard which is heated so you can even sit out there in winter and look out at all the trees & hear the birds - no other cafe in Heathmont has this! All of the other cafes have their outdoor seating at the front, so you get all the road noise.

Extremely disappointed with how much everything about this cafe has deteriorated. The service is appalling. We have stopped in twice in the last week for coffee and a snack and both times have left after waiting 15 minutes with no service. Two recent lunches we had there were very disappointing. On one occasion I had to ask twice for my meal - it had been forgotten and my friends had already been served and finished theirs. We had to ask for table to be cleared and to ask for coffee. Wait staff did not come near us unless we asked and then very grudgingly served us. It is very telling that in the last couple of years, it is not nearly as crowded as it used to be. Previously, a booking had to be made if you wanted a table at lunch and quite often, breakfast. Now however, it is generally only half full.

New owners have taken Barclay's to the next level. Crisp clean revitalized. Kept the best of the old and added an extra dimension. The menu is now double of the old, breakfast and lunch. All cakes, pastries and puddings are are all cooked in-house. And for an extra special event try the High Tea, which is held 1st Tuesday of every month. The newly refurbished courtyard is an all weather destination, ideal for a quite getaway or a breath oh fresh air undercover. Love the changes and the artwork. Great service, great coffee, and the food, well, it is amazing. Keep up the good work.

Updated review: The end of an era. Unfortunately Barclays has gone downhill since my last review just a few months ago. The modifications introduced by the new management have altered the vibe of the place, and the drop in tradies and regulars picking up their morning coffees is a direct reflection Im not alone in my assessment. Very disappointing. The search for a new Friday morning breakky spot continues.
