Large cafe down at the South end of Coogee serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a large menu and lots of options looked appealing to me. I had trouble picking between the baked eggs and oats and ended up getting oats on this occasion. The bowl was massive and was topped with poached pear, rhubarb and pistachios. A healthy porridge as it wasn't sweet, I added some honey to it. I couldn't eat it all, so get this if you're hungry. My friend ordered the pancetta on toast with avocado and rocket and tomato. Looked lovely. We got some coffees and a chai - a little spicy for me. The service staff were lovely!
I've spent a month in Australia and tonight is my last night. We chose Barzura for my last meal on Oz turf and I can honestly say it was a superb choice! Firstly, the atmosphere was great, from the outside it looked warm and friendly and once inside it didn't disappoint.
The staff were excellent, incredibly efficient, didn't put a foot wrong and very friendly. I had the kangaroo and my friend had the trout, both of which the quality was very good and they were both cooked to perfection.
As for price, in my opinion it matched the quality and taste of the food.
Thanks for a great taste experience on my last night in Australia!!!
The second last time we went to Barzura was a while ago, so we were quite shocked with the new look when we had our dinner there last week. It now feels less formal and more upbeat, which definitely matches the staff's youthful and friendly attitude.
The menu is now reduced to bare minimum, so there are less selection to indulge from. The food is average and the serving sizes are acceptable.
Price wise, I would say that they could really do some pricing review, because they are just a little too expensive for a beachside restaurant with a limited view.
I have to say I agree with you Easternian. I love the new look of Barzura, but the menu is smaller and it is a little pricey. But, it's a great place to go to occasionally. You certainly can't beat the view!
