Top place. Salads always so so fresh; dressing subtle, interesting and tastywithout overpowering the flavours of the crisp salad veggies. Chicken used in sandwiches is top quality, steak in sandwich is perfectly bbqed with "justright" caramelised onion, best quice- again so fresh with perfect quice pastry- not too heavy. French vanilla slice , made on the premises , to die for. Great pasdionfruit pie slice. Beautiful setting under 5he palms surrounded by cooling shrubs or cosy inside. Staff are professional - efficient and mindful of customers specific needs and have 5hat diffic7lt balance of "friendliness" without being fake or intrusive. Beantree is a reflection of the owner Sue. My time is spread betwern melbourne and Port Macquarie. Melbourne is the supposed cafe capital of Australia but Beantree is my fav cafe by miles.
Today I had the worst experience at Bean Tree cafe that I have ever had before and hope never to experience again... I ordered a short black and got exactly that. Realising it was not what I thought I ordered I asked if I could get a bit of milk. They got me the milk and as they put it down I said excuse me can I ask you something to which they turned on me and said "No we don't have time to keep running back to you I am busy". My friend and I sat in stunned silence- I have Never been spoken to like that in a restaurant before....... Very disappointed Certainly will not frequent again!!!
Innovative, fresh, tasty food with good coffee. Very relaxed garden setting or cosy indoor option. Very good, friendly & efficient staff make the whole experience very relaxing and enjoyable - something a little better than the run-of-the-mill options in town. Recommended!
