Becco
This modern Italian restaurant is classy and clean. The kitchen looked clean and open. Came here for dinner with my family and I had the gnocchi which flavoursome and decent portion. Some of these dishes is are expensive, fine dining price tags. The service can be a bit aloof and come across as judgemental as the staff tried to upsell when we chose not to add on.
Becco is a Melbourne icon and has been around many years and you may walk past without even knowing that its there unless someone points it out to you. Its tucked into a quiet alleyway just off Bourke Street and is located next to Gingerboy Quality of food is very good and so is the service very flamboyant Italian waiters. The bread and olive oil is extremely fresh. The pumpkin ravioli and the spaghetti vongole was done to perfection, and on the spicier side which is just what I like. The menu is simple but there is always something that jumps out.
Quite possibly one of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne.
Definitely a locals' favourite and very popular.
I started with the special - battered Tasmanian oysters and they were great.
My main of duck was also fantastic and I had to steal a share of the veal saltimbocca from a friend. All amazing!

Becco: it's a Melbourne institution. If you like your food with smears and foams, then this, my friend, is not the place for you.
This is about traditional Italian style food with a modern twist. The prices are befitting of an institution. Expect white tablecloths and great table service. This isn't the kind of place you ever need to worry about topping up your own glass. Oh no.
It's charming, dark and sophisticated and popular with the business crowd for lunch. At dinner, you'll find a mix of couples to small groups - nothing too rowdy. This is Melbourne, after all.#reviewtowin
