Belmont Tavern, Silks Bar & Bistro

I had the most unpleasant experience at this restaurant. I had been once before and found my fish dish was overcooked and dry. My dessert was served 20 minutes later than everyone else without an apology or explanation. Never the less my son asked me to give it another try. Here's what happened.
My son booked a table for three children and three adults for Sunday 5th October. We had requested a table near a window but were not given one even though the restaurant was not busy. Drinks orders were taken and we checked the menus. From there on, things went downhill. We waited for half an hour. none of the drinks arrived and no one came to take our order. my son spoke to a person who said that they were having problems with training staff. Very good pub food. Been there many times for lunch and always found it excellent

Recently I visited this restaurant with a friend for lunch on a Saturday. We had never been there before, and it was just pot luck that we ended up there.

I have worked in hospitality all my life, and have found that "customer service" seems to be a phrase that on-one knows anymore. So I was absolutley delighted by my experience at Silks. The decor and atmosphere was lovely, the waitresses were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious!

We now recommend Silks to everyone we can, and have made it a regular meeting place for lunches.
