So I was eating my lunch in my car, and this elderly lady knocked on my window. She said I quote "I need you to move, you bought food from another cafe, this parking is for my customer" given I was parked in front of Bendigo Street Milk Bar. I assume she's the boss, and her name might be Karen? Might be wrong. But last time I checked it was public parking. So I continue eating my lunch. She went back to her car and kept honking at me from behind. Hmmmmm not sure how I feel about this. Didn't know she owned the road too.
There is a real charm about this place. I've lived nearby when it was the local milk bar, useful but not a place you'd want to stop for long. Now it's a hip cafe and whilst the decor isn't anything special the hero is the coffee, food and service. From hearty breakfast options through to a light lunch. Locals know this place well. It's also family friendly so if you want an affordable breakfast out with your kids and friends all sitting at one big table this is a good place for you. Coffee here is also very good as takeaway.
This is more a cafe than a milk bar and a great place to hang out and get great food. Nonnas schnitzels are fantastic and so are the "old school" brownies and blondies that they cook at the milk bar. This place is well known to locals but is still a bit of a secret for the rest of Richmond. It also has coffee worth stopping for, I had spicy baked beans with fried eggs for breakfast on the weekend, which was great for my hang over
