The mental health inpatient unit used to be great but since 2021 has become so much worse. Many nursing staff did not know how to manage or de-escalate patients who are in crisis. Many times nurses attended checks and didn't provide help or comfort during episodes of distress and relied on medications to manage the situation and were unable to understand what and why distress was occurring. All the Allied health staff were fantastic (FIVE STARS TO EVERYONE IN A/H). There were no activities run by the nurses despite the timetable stating there would be and often patients would have to arrange activities themselves. The garden area had no plants and the sensory garden was often dead, it did not have an inviting and safe feel to it and the seating area shade sail was broken. A few bedrooms had the window looking straight out at a concrete wall - as a patient this left me feeling closed in and depressed as no natural light could come into my room. ...read more
Honestly, I could not agree more I was in there for three months and was discharged early this week. I was obviously distressed state as I was blindsided the last time I had saw my psychiatrist which was three or four days before he said that he needed to extend my stay further 2 to 3 weeks. Through the whole three months all they did was medication changes I continued to ask and it was advised by my psychiatrist that ECT could be at idea for treatment. However he told me on my second last visit that ECT was full, the following day I would assessed by another psych in the hospital. He was nothing but a bully and harming to my health. I was also told my mood was hypervigilant and felt I was being targeted, wow it may have been was in there for mental health. I just think all they do is get there three months worth of money and be out. They have discharge is a blue things happen which I was admitted to a public hospital. I'm now waiting to be admitted to another private hospital
Sorry I meant to mention I hope you're okay and your comment was spot on your echoed all my concerns also.
Had three wisdom teeth taken out under G.A, very first time and also very first surgery and I would do it again in a heart beat because it was such a pleasant experience.
The nurses are exactly what you would want, genuine, caring, knowledgeable and they actually listen to you.
They are what all nurses should model themselves off.
Also it is not a 'hospital' kind of hospital, it's so comfortable, small and quiet.
