Great hairdressers. I have been going to Biba Sth Yarra for nearly four years now and have always been impressed with their high standards. Tegan, Simone and Jamie Lee have all cut my hair and Harry does the colour. They are great and I get the impression they have had excellent training. I am very fussy about hairdressers having had the best in New York and London and after trying many in Melbourne am very happy with Biba Sth Yarra.
Terrible! Completely over priced and hairdresser either did not listen to what I wanted or just ignored me and did the complete opposite of what I asked! When I booked I both called and sent a follow up email stating that I want a "Level 1" hairdresser (as the budget is a bit tight at the moment) and I was charged for a Level 2 hairdresser, although, to be honest, I suspect the hairdresser I was with was Level 1. We had a 15 minute consultation to discuss what I wanted and I was very clear that I dislike all the yellow/golden tones in my blonde hair and I want a bright, white/silver kind of blonde. After four hours in the salon I walked out looking exactly as I did when I went in - a yellow kind of blonde. My friends, parents, husband have all also confirmed they cannot see the difference! The hairdresser even described my completed hair as a "creamy blonde" - not at all what I wanted. Huge waste of time and money. Most disappointed and certainly wouldn't recommend.
If you don't mind sitting in the hairdresser for hours on end and paying a fortune then I highly recommend. They are excellent colourist. Great if you enjoy sitting around while other clients are attended to during your appointment! My last (third) appointment for a cut, colour and blow dry took exactly 5 hours and I had planned a few foils but couldn't spare an extra hour let alone the additional cost well in excess of $400.
I've been going here for 2 years. VERY mixed feedback. It comes down to what hairdresser you get. Hilda and Angie ( v experienced) are very good. Some of the younger staff you still pay a fortune for ( I have short hair but my latest quote was in excess of $400). I'm not rich but hair is a luxury I've decided to pay for as it makes world of difference to your self- confidence. Some of the less experienced staff seem to have no notion of this. My latest hair colour came out orange ( not blonde) after 5.5 hours in the salon. It wasn't a tricky cut. I had to be rescued by another hairdresser mid- cut but salon was closed so no time to rescue the hair colour. Having said that, Angie and Hilda are excellent. Really excellent. I just can't believe they'd employ staff who are fresh out of the academy and charge so much or not tell you on the phone they're less experienced. Shocking.
