Bistro Moncur

We chose to go here on NYE. It was a surprisingly quiet for NY so managed to get a booking no fuss, and even able to increase the size only two days before. It is on the lower level of the Woollahra hotel. You can sit alfresco or indoors. For the 4 us with drinks and meals each, the table was extremely small, especially for tall people. We ordered spritzers to drink and perused the menu. For entrees, we tried the mozzarella and fig salad, steak tartare and French onion soufflé. The soufflé was perfectly cooked, drowning in cheese and was divine. Also a very good steak tartare. For the mains, the gnocchi was one of the best I've had - served with oyster mushrooms and zuchhini. We also got the lamb rack special, which wasn't really a "rack", more 3 tiny cutlets, and at $48 was extremely expensive for that. The food, service and atmosphere at Bistro Moncur are all excellent. It must be one of the top restaurants in Sydney.

Brilliant restaurant attached to the Woollahra Pub. I had the confit duck and it was sublime. Great service and very fashionable, have spotted many a celeb at this restaurant.

I can highly recommend it. Have a few beers at the bar to inhale the atmosphere, then enjoy a brilliant meal. You won't regret it.
