Black Pony Cafe

Black Pony is a relatively small cafe just steps away from the sands of Coogee Beach. My friends and I stumbled across this place after a morning/afternoon walk on a Sunday and since it looked quite busy we thought it must be good so we decided to give it a try.

The place has a low-light ambiance to counter the bright lights coming from the outside. The seatings were a little bit narrow and it just feels like it is run out of space.

We ordered three different things from the menu: pulled pork burger, steak sandwich, and chicken pesto pasta. It took approximately half an hour for our order to arrive. They tasted very average and none of the elements were surprising. The serving presentations were also quite undesirable, like a home cooking and nothing more. Perhaps we ordered all the wrong things from this cafe?

Overall, I say it was an OK experience.

Great service, wine and food, Excellent presentation and matching of palettes. Small and intimate dinning, but with a small group its also a very nice environment to nourish & connect with friends or family.

#reviewtowin Black Pony is consistently good, the food is gourmet and a little more exy than some cafes but worth the price, the poached eggs and haloumi are delicious, the coffee is great and the service sharp. The only downside is it is such a small cafe there can be a bit of a wait for a table.

Went to the cafe on Sunday last week. sat outside even if it was a little chilly! Will be great in the summer when you want to be out of the heat. I ordered homemade baked beans with poached eggs and a home made lemonade. The food was yummy I would go back. The Lemonade on the other hand was horrible. the staff were super friendly and checked on us a couple of times which was good as we were outside and sometimes you can be forgotten about. I would recommend it.
