I have been using this park for many years and totally refute everything that Two tourists (below) have to say. We camp at Black River with many other regulars and we all love the place - and there are photo's to prove how well the hosts care for us. Two tourist, please go and get a life. You are obviously out of step with all the positive comments made on other forums and you need to go and get some perspective.

A very unfriendly strictly run park that makes you feel uncomfortable to stay there. We will never visit there again a very unpleasant experience.

Sorry to say but found the management unfriendly and rather rude it was a case of you can't do this you can't do that we were made to feel like we put them out by paying them for us to stay there. We were told to close the caravan door if we had the air con on and not to wash the Fruit bat poo of the car as water was rationed. The door of the toilets was one day slammed closed by the management as someone had left it open and it had a sign on it saying keep closed. We stayed at 10 sites on the journey and will never go back to this site the management should retire and had it over to someone who will give some customer care instead of making the customer feel like they are just and annoyance. All the other sites we stayed at were great but this was an eye opener and we are sorry we paid the management money and then inconveniently them by using the electricity water and the facilities that I thought we were allowed to use.

This review is complete nonsense. The Management requests are quite reasonable. Who, leaves their door open on a hot day when the air con is running? Water restrictions in this part of Queensland are followed by everyone as it is a serious matter. Management at Black River Stadium are the most helpful and accomodating people you could hope to meet in any CP anywhere in Australia. "Two Tourists" you are obviously nothing more than complainers who can't understand a reasonable request. This forum is not for those who wish to make totally ureasonable complaints. Karma is on its way people so please keep your rubbish off this forum and, oh yeh, shut the door when you are using the air con!

Best Grey Nomad Park in Queensland (or Australia for that matter.) Park has wide open spaces and privacy with spotless facilities. It's a genuine over 50's park with a strong focus on security and social events. Each night a bell signals happy hour and there are often special nights where food is provided for a gold coin donation. Most of these nights centre around the free to use pizza-oven and bbq's. It's a very sociable atmosphere and sporadic laughter is often heard around the park. This is our fifth winter here and I can emphasize that there are no cliques, with one and all made welcome to partake in activities. Good shopping is a short drive away as are many other spots to visit such as the Heritage Tea Rooms in the Hervey Ranges. The way that this park has evolved over the years is a credit to the on-site owners, Bill and Joan, and their staff. Some would say that it's a little too far out from Townsville at 23 kms, but I can assure you that it's worth the short drive simply ...read more
