Blackburn High School

I am a year 10 student from Blackburn high school and I do not believe that some of the teachers at this school are taking full action of their role as a secondary school teacher, i believe that the teachers at this school (my school) do not help students before it's too late in a situating and I believe as a student of this school teachers really need to look at their role and realise that it's not just about handing out work it's about connecting with the student and helping them become what they inspire to be.

Blackburn High School, once renowned for it's music, is now going down hill. It has terrible VCE averages, teachers that you would ask "are they qualified to teach year 12?", a bad environment with old dirty equipment, rude students and absurd rules definitely a bad learning environment. A school which is now struggling in sports, academics and music due to it's terrible management. Blackburn High School treats education as a minor importance and promotes "mentor groups" which are a 20 minute waste of time every morning which simply involves pointless discussion and mucking around students are now separated into houses which serve no purpose but to hinder and disrupt year 12 students in their learning. Blackie High has gone down the drain. It used to have a fantastic reputation; now it is honestly the worst school I've ever been associated with, and that is really saying something.

Excellent teachers & friendly office workers. The school has a great atmosphere & the music department is really good.
