Blumberg Hotel

Passing through and stopped here for dinner. Service was helpful and friendly, the dining room was prettily decorated and cozily warm on an otherwise freezing night. Wine was good, great to see locally sourced wines on the list. Had roast pork - veggies were excellent, but the meat was dry. Crackling had a strange flavour like old dripping. I'd give the place another try, though.

Now this is what I call a country pub. Not only does it have the feel of such a pub, but it is also quite clear that the National Motor Museum is nearby because there are photos of cars all over the walls in some of the rooms. Being near the museum you can expect this place to be fairly crowded on those days that tourists descend upon the town. The outdoor area is okay, but it is more like a backyard, ajoining the carpark, with some benches than a full blown beer garden. They also have some local craft beer on tap, which is pretty cool. Mind you, it did take a while to get our meals, and the schnitzel wasn't all the best, but other than that this is a pretty cool pub. Oh, the old beer delivery truck hanging from the balcony is also pretty cool.
