These guys also have a store at 318 Victoria St, just around the corner and two doors up from Peel St. This is a trad butcher with sawdust on the floor which is always wet. In my opinion they are unbeatable. I get most of my meat at Little Saigon in Footscray, where the T-bone steaks are $9.99 as opposed to the $19.99 you will pay for tough inedible steaks at Coles, and I thought that couldn't be beaten, but at Pettigrew's they are $7.99 or $8.99 and they are tender and good. They have home-made Italian style sausages at about $6/kg. I took 2 kg to a barbie where everyone had already eaten and was full and they were all gobbled up within about twenty minutes. If you don't see something ask - it's probably in the 'fridge, and if you want something particular you can order it - for example, if you ask about pickled pork they will tell you they prepare it every Thursday and ask how many kilos you want.
