We had a fabulous meal here replete with great wine and atmosphere. The food is traditional Italian cuisine made with fresh ingredients. The chicken with fontina was delicious as was the stuffed calamari! If you have trouble deciding what to choose, you can order from the set menu which seemed quite good value. The restaurant has a lovely ambience which makes it perfect for a romantic evening out.
So very dissappointing..we were promised great food and service. Yes the service was prompt when we first sat down, however deteriorated pretty quick from then on. After confirming with the waiter that the Spaghetti Marinara was "mwaahh" what a shock my partner got when a bowl of flavourless sticky goo came out. The seafood looked and tasted like it came out of a can. The Seafood Linguine I had for lunch at a local pub was 100% better at 1/4 of the price ...Never again and I suggest never for anyone else.
Borsari Ristorante has a delicious selection of Italian food. The cost of the meal, dessert and coffee was definitely affordable, and I left here feeling extremely satisfied. Great place to go for a dinner for two or with a small group of friends. The wait staff here are attentive, but they don't hover over you.
Once upon a time, Borsari was probably the best of an ordinary Italian lot in Lygon St. But the last few years have seen some overpriced, rather bland pasta pushed out to an unsuspecting public. Still okay as an experience, but certainly not going to kill you with flavour...
