I think this is incredibly unfair. Considering pepper is a very common condiment, you really should have specified when ordering if you're that fussy about it, dude.
I don't like onion, so I make sure to ask for "no onion" when I'm ordering stuff, even if it doesn't mention it as an ingredient. Easy enough to do, and avoids awkward situations later on.
I eat there quite often, and have always had friendly service and lovely food. Ingredients are nice and fresh, nice coffee. Prices are very reasonable too.
Get over yourself.
"Worse lunch experience"? really? if you hate pepper to the extent that you can't eat a meal with pepper then you have a SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENT. you can either order things especially with no-pepper or handle the fact that every once in a while, this sort of things will happen. what if you didn't like sesame seeds and their buns happen to have sesame seeds? would you expect them to re-make your lunch? i've been there a couple times and the burgers are pretty good. good ingredients. certainly not your typical sloppy greasy-burger you find from some other places in the area.
