Despite the industrial location, this warehouse style cafe and bakery is very popular so you might be scrambling for a table. They do a reasonably good breakfast, and a great range of pastries. Coffee is okay, but not brilliant. Breads are also available take-away if the hipsters haven't bought them out. The sourdough is okay in a pinch, but not my favourite by any stretch of the imagination.
Although Brasserie Bread at Banksmeadow is not located at a culinary precinct but rather an industrial one, it is nevertheless one of the best local gems that gives locals and visitors with beautiful foodie experience.
The shop looks very original, with everything being very different than what you usually see in ordinary cafes. The shop is housed in a warehouse turned into modern cafe with its industrial atmosphere still in ...read more
A visit to Banksmeadows only tourist attraction is not a relaxing experience but it is worthwhile. Those game enough to battle the crowds will be rewarded by the freshest breads and patisseries as well as a unique set up. In my view, the place could benefit from a few more child friendly touches, especially as they encourage families through the door with the kids cooking workshops. A toy box and a few colouring-in books would not have gone astray. If youre not doing a baking class, Brasserie Bread cafe is better suited to a Mum and Dads brunch than a family outing.
My husband and I had breakfast there yesterday at 9am. Found a table without a problem and the service was good. I had sourdough pancakes with banana. The BEST pancakes I've ever had! We bought hot cross buns and some tarts and pastries. Everything was without fault. Would definitely recommend to all. I will certainly be going back!
The cafe for breakfast is ok but nothing spectacular. It is a casual eating place so you have to scramble to get tables as you can't book and you just sit where you can. This can be hard when you have more than 2 people. We were lucky enough to hover around a large table who were about to leave. We had to wait ages for our table to be cleaned from the previous diners and ended up picking up the dirty dishes and putting them elsewhere. You have to line up to order and pay for your food. The food and coffees seem to come out at different times, funnily enough the food came before the coffees and there seemed to be a lack of structure and efficiency with how the staff worked. The total opposite for the actual bakery part of the place. The service was quick and the variety of bread was amazing. We tried the light rye sourdough and sour cherry bread. We would quite happily go back there again to buy the bread although some friends actually order the bread online ...read more
