Bretts Wharf River Room
With an air of sophistication and elegance, have an intimate meal, enjoy a catered function or dine in the private dining room at Brett’s Wharf. The seafood restaurant occupies relaxing views of the Brisbane River and city scape whilst enjoying meals with fresh local ingredients that change daily. Choose from a variety of tapas, entrees, mains of fish, prawns, grilled steaks, cheese platters and delicious desserts. The wine list is impressive though the restaurant accepts BYO wine for groups of less than 8 people. Throughout the year, expect to be presented with special menus such as the Christmas day, Boxing day and Melbourne Cup cuisines.

What can I say, we had a special occasion so we went there to have a special meal-not impressed at all by the food. My husband has an allergy and I especially mentioned it at the time of booking, yet my dish came out covered in the very same thing he is allergic to without us being made aware by the waiter when we ordered. The seafood platter was nothing to write home about and we left very disappointed and won't be coming back. Totally overrated.
I have been looking forward to taking my partner to this restaurant all week the hype building up and expectations have terribly come crashing down. We arrived for a 7.30 seating on a Saturday and were seated at the bar whilst our table was organised. Once seated we ordered, our entree was the prawn "bucket" which came out in a porcelain bowl not a bucket as stated on the menu, consisting of 8 king tiger prawns for the stunning price of $30. The flesh tasted watered down and did not consist of the freshness that seafood should. The restaurant writes a synopsis at the start of their menu, boldly stating that they get the freshest seafood from the trawlers that spend the whole day at sea. So moving on to the main course of the yellow tail kingfish, when it came out i was quite surprised at the lack of quantity and detail on the plate. The scallops where rubbery and the spinach on one side was seasoned beautifully where as the other side was watery and ...read more
"Enjoyed" a Monday luncheon for 4. Entre of Hanoi prawns were raw and had to be sent back, 2x seafood chowders were generous but no soup and lukewarm, 2 x maincourses of Moreton bay bugs were burnt black and flesh overcooked, out of 8 courses 5 were well below the price requested in my opinion, they didn't burn the cheese platter at least. Don't bother.
I was really disappointed with the "banquet". there were 3 prawns, one small oyster, a glass full of chopped lettuce with 2 tiny pieces of lobster, a deep fried pice of fish that was decent sized but looked like it had been refried or fried in old oil.
the staff made a huge deal of wanting to satisfy my disappointment and did this by giving me 3 more prawns.
Expecting wonderful seafood, excited to see Alistair McLeod was cooking that night, we were so looking forward to a great night. But what a disappointment. I ordered grilled fish, and got it swimming in oil. It came with glorified chips, soggy and oily, and a cut up tomato. That was it. My dining companion was disappointed with the lack of freshness of his shellfish meal, and commented that it was very ordinary. We were incredibly disappointed, it was a special occasion for us, we'd saved our pennies, and anticipated a fine feast. Maybe we just got an off night, I'm sure they can serve up better.
